Recently, I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a series of short stories, set in a village. It could be argued to be a deliberately stereotypical village story, save for the exploration of certain themes like Gothicism and Romanticism. Does this float your boat? Read on! I’ll include a little blurb:
Courtney de Ville (avid gardener, Tolkien-disliker, non-fiction acolyte, and avid Spinozan) grows sick of her urban living, and one day accidentally enters the Village of No-Place. There she sets up a living, as a gardener and curator of the local library. However, strange occurrences start happening in No-Place, and the nights are filled with odd, frightening noises. Can Courtney team up with (devout Christian, Tolkien-lover, non-fiction hater) Constable Thackeray to figure out the mysteries plaguing their little village?
